Would Removing the turbo affect the computer. SR20. ?

I just Bought a Holden Gemini Coupe (1976), It has a SR20 engine(Twin Cam 16Valve) in it aswell as a Garret T-28 Turbo. Under P-Plate Laws i cannot drive it till i remove the turbo. The turbo did not come part of the engine but was added on separately by the previous owner. Just Wondering would simply removing the turbo allow the car to operate normally? . I heard a rumour that i may have to change the computer to adapt the non turbo engine. Any Thoughtss.....? Thanks in advance
