How can we hang something on a sheet rock wall with NO STUDS?

Toggle bolts, like everybody else said. I just want to say that I think it's wonderful that you are keeping your kid in the basement. That's where the little muchkins belong. Out of sight, out of mind. You might want to consider a safe or blast door installation.
